9‑day escape into pristine mountain wilderness with stunning variety – from alpine meadows and juniper forests to rocky passes and deep‑blue glacial lakes.
Start and end in Samarkand (2,750 years of history) and Penjikent (the “Central Asian Pompeii”), with its Sogdian frescoes.
Full support – donkeys carry group and personal luggage (max 10 kg per person). You only hike with a daypack.
The Fann Mountains (often called simply “the Fanns”) are a compact yet spectacular part of the Pamir‑Alay system – a landscape of over 40 turquoise glacial lakes, jagged 5,000 m peaks, ancient juniper forests and authentic Tajik mountain culture.
Trekking in the Fanns offers accessible altitude with maximum reward: daily stages of 4–7 hours, elevation gains capped at 600 m, and well-marked, non-exposed trails. You’ll sleep in comfortable tent camps under starlit skies, dine on freshly prepared Tajik and European cuisine, and wake each morning to breathtaking mountain vistas.
This route guides you through the region’s most photogenic corners: the cascading Alaudin Lakes, the mirror‑like Mutnye Lakes resting beneath Chimtarga (5,489 m), the vast Kulikalon lake system, and the ever‑changing hues of Chukurak Lake.
The Fann Mountains feel like the Alps met the Himalayas – then decided to keep the very best of both. Ready to walk trails where turquoise waters meet towering peaks?
